The gymnasium is located in the center of the East Campus and was completed and put into use in June 2007. The gymnasium covers an area of 13900 square meters, with a total construction area of 23950 square meters and a designed seating capacity of 8600. It was a wrestling competition venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a sitting volleyball competition venue for the Beijing Paralympics. It is one of the six university Olympic venues and has produced 18 gold medals during the Olympics, second only to the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube in terms of total gold medals;During Paralympic Games, two Paralympic gold medals were born, becoming a truly "gold medal paradise". The gymnasium offers regular fitness programs such as badminton, table tennis, and basketball, and can meet the needs of various international and domestic large-scale sports events and public welfare cultural performances. For example, it undertakes the "Good Luck Beijing 2007 World Youth Wrestling Championships", the "2010 Beijing First World Martial Arts Games", as well as large-scale domestic and international events and multiple cultural performances. It also hosts the CCTV Farmers' Spring Festival Gala for five consecutive. The gymnasium, with its design concept of "Green Olympics" and solemn and stable architectural style, has gradually become a landmark building for sports and cultural activities organized by China Agricultural University.
